Dentistry From The Heart Serves 140 Kids In Ashburn
Ashburn Children’s Dentistry was the local participant Saturday in Dentistry From The Heart, and by day’s end, around 140 local children had been provided with free dental services.
The national campaign Dentistry From The Heart provides free dental services to children through hundreds of events held in the U.S. and Canada throughout the year. In Loudoun Saturday, Ashburn Children’s Dentistry was the local participant and Dr. Lynda Dean-Duru said the practice plans to continue the tradition on an annual basis.
When registration began at 8 a.m. Saturday, a line thronged throughout the Pipeline Plaza parking lot. Ashburn Children’s Dentistry staff and volunteers, including local dentists, hygienists and dental assistants, who donated their time, were ready for the crowd, providing free food, arts and crafts, music, balloon animals and more for entertainment.
Dean-Duru estimated that by noon more than $25,000 in free dental care had been provided. The plan was that the first 100 children between the ages of 1 and 18 would be provided with a free extraction, filling or cleaning. But all 140 children that were lined up for the free event were given the dental care they needed, Dean-Duru said.
